Cast Iron machine tool casting of 145 tons of Heavy Machinery Casting Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “North First Heavy Casting”) has been successfully cast. Director of the China Foundry Association Jia Chengbing and the full-time vice chairman Wen Piao’s experts from the foundry circle made a special trip to the scene and saw the record of the world’s single largest ductile iron machine tool casting again refreshed after a lapse of 9 months.
Ren Yicheng, general manager of Beiyi Recasting Co., Ltd. introduced: “After molding, the castings are 20.5 meters long and 145 tons in weight. This is a new height. Following the successful pouring of 135 tons of the same type of machine tools in February of this year, the North recast people to new ones. Another round of sprint initiated by the world record indicates that our ability to produce 100T or more QT600-3 large-sized ductile iron machine tool castings has been further consolidated."
According to reports, during the pouring process, nearly 170 tons of iron moisture at 1,360 degrees Celsius was poured at the same time as five ladle packages. Wen Ping, deputy director of the company, said: “The 5 casting packages are cast with a single casting at the same time. The requirements for the conditioning and organization of hot metal are very high. The physical and chemical properties must be consistent to ensure the quality of the castings after molding. The accumulation and breakthrough in the technical level, first-line operation experience, and factory site management ensure the successful pouring of large-scale machine tool castings."
Casting is the basis of the equipment manufacturing industry. Breakthroughs in the key technology of casting and basic process technology are the starting point for independent innovation of the complete machine. The 145 ton vertical beam castings cast by the North First Cast is a key component on heavy machine tools. Its strict elongation, tensile strength and other indicators determine the precision, life and stability of the machine tool.
With a total of more than 3,000 sets of professional casting equipment, the Beiyi Recasting Co., Ltd. has a pit molding area of 2000m2 and an annual designed production capacity of 50,000 tons. It can produce various castings from HT200 to HT350 and QT400 to QT700 with a maximum casting weight of 160 tons. After its parent company, Beijing No.1 Machine Tool Plant, purchased multinational brand manufacturer Wadrich-Coburg from abroad, the development of CNC gantry boring and milling machine products became more rapid, diversified, and compounded, and it also brought about a source for North-first recasting. Continuous large-scale casting orders and actual technical breakthrough opportunities.
